Founded in 1944 by Mr Loi Ah Koon, an immigrant from China’s Hainan Island, the first Ya Kun Kaya Toast coffee stall was located in the old commercial district of Singapore. The stall’s simple fare of charcoal-grilled Kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs and traditionally-brewed coffee and tea were perennial favourites with regular customers who were fellow immigrants.
Since its inception in 1944, Ya Kun has thrived as a customer friendly business with a strong focus on excellent customer service, traditional coffee brew and toast, and our proprietary “YA KUN KAYA”. Our customers do not simply consume Kaya toast, they also savour an entirely unique local experience with a dose of nostalgia.
