Prost To Oktoberfest 2022

CapitaLand's Oktoberfest returned after a three year hiatus with lots of food, fun, festivities, and, of course, drinks. We take a look at what went down and how you can keep the Oktoberfest cheer going.

If you enjoy cracking open a cold one after work with your friends and colleagues, Oktoberfest would probably be one of the more exciting times of the year for you. Sure, it might not be as big of a festival here as it is in Germany where it originated, but we do run some pretty good Oktoberfest events in Singapore, if we do say so ourselves.

Take CapitaLand's Oktoberfest 2022 for instance, which finally made its post-COVID reurn, at 31 International Business Park and Ascent at Singapore Science Park, and for the first time this year, at CapitaSpring and Plaza 8 @ Changi Business Park.

With festivities held across all four CapitaLand workspace locations on four separate dates, we invited tenants in each location to register and join us at the event for an evening of beer, food, live-music, activities, lucky draws, and more.

We pulled out all the stops this time round to make our first post-COVID edition of Oktoberfest a special one for our tenants, and collaborated with sponsors like Carlsberg, SnapMe, Creative Technology, Citadines, Hitokuchi Onigiri, The Work Project, and ReJuve to give away a pool of exciting lucky draw prizes. We also partnered with F&B tenants in Singapore Science Park to offer exclusive dining deals for the Oktoberfest season (think $10 beers and cocktails, and $25 lamb racks).

If you missed out on the fun this year, or simply want to relive the night, here's a look at what went down at each location.

CapitaSpring

All registered participants at our event got to enjoy loads of food and beer,
and could snap as many pictures as they wanted at our photo booth.

Games included solo booth games like our Mud Slide, as well as stage games like beer chugging.

There's nothing like the feeling of enjoying live music at an event.
Here, we opened up a dance floor for participants to dance the night away.

31 International Business Park

We saw lots of excitement at our Oktoberfest event at International Business Park as participants
tried their hand at our game booths and cheered each other on.

Ascent at Singapore Science Park 1

Our Oktoberfest venue at Singapore Science Park was packed for the night,
with participants feasting and drinking the night away

Plaza 8 at Changi Business Park

The crowd at Changi Business Park had lots of fun letting loose on the dance floor.

Though we've officially wrapped up our Oktoberfest festivities for the year, it doesn't mean that the feasting and drinking has to stop. If you haven't gotten enough of ice cold beers and platters of finger food, we've got some great recommendations for you.

Here's our list of the best places to hit up after work for a spot of alcohol and bar bites, according to where you work.

CapitaSpring
Sol & Luna
For times when you find yourself craving something a little fancier and more intimate, Sol & Luna at CapitaSpring is your best bet.

This garden oasis offers both indoor and alfresco seating, and serves up Latin European favourites like Smoked Grilled Octopus and Fried Padron Peppers alongside innovative cocktails that taste as good as they look. They also offer a selection of beer, cider, champagne, and wine for those who prefer something simpler.

Cook & Brew
No one can resist a good Happy Hour deal. At Cook & Brew at The Westin at Asia Square Tower 2, Happy Hour lasts till 10:30pm Saturdays to Thursdays, and all-day on Fridays, eve of and public holidays.

During Happy Hour, a pint of beer and a glass of wine can go for as low as $10, while selected signature cocktails go for just $12. As for bar snacks, they’ve got quite the selection of fries, including classics like Sweet Potato Fries and Truffle Fries, as well as more interesting options like Pad Thai Fries and Crispy Nori Fries.

International Business Park
Tan Yu (Westgate)
Okay, this one isn't exactly found within the International Business Park, but Westgate is only a short bus ride or walk away, so it's still easy enough to get to after work.

This specialty fish restaurant is known for their whole grilled fish doused in your choice of broth, served bubbling hot in a large hotplate dish that's perfect for sharing. We recommend going for their signature fresh green pepper base, because nothing goes better with a bottle of ice cold Tsingtao beer than those numbing, spicy Sichuan flavours. They've also got a whole list of sides like barbecue skewers and deep fried sticky rice cakes, so this is sure to be a satisfying meal.

Apart from their bar bites, the mains at The Pipe District Bistro are pretty tasty, and go well with your choice of soju or beer too. Image courtesy of The Pipe District Bistro via Facebook.

Singapore Science Park
The Pipe District Bistro
This family-run industrial-themed cafe at Sparkle at Singapore Science Park might be filled with families brunching in the day, but in the evenings, it’s the perfect spot to gather for beers on tap, by the bottle, or in towers, and soju cocktails and towers. They even offer an interesting Soju Bandung Tower for those of you who are a little more adventurous.

As for bar bites, they’ve got Asian treats like Mala Baby Lobsters and Garlic Fried Rice, as well as more Western-style snacks like Truffle Fries.

Famous JB101
If you prefer having a heartier meal alongside your beer, Famous JB101 at Sparkle at Singapore Science Park is the perfect spot to gather for dinner and drinks.

As we all know, zichar-style food is best shared in a larger group, so gather your office buddies and enjoy dishes like their Signature Fried Pork, Crispy Prawn Paste Chicken, Black Pepper Crab, Claypot White Pepper Chicken Soup, and more, all of which pair well with an ice cold beer.

The Pizze Gamberi E Zucchine is a crowd favourite at Daniele’s Pizza. Image courtesy of Daniele’s Pizza via Facebook.

Daniele’s Pizza
If there's one thing that makes a good snack for those boozy nights, it's a good old pizza that's easy to eat and even easier to share. There might be lots of casual, affordable options to choose from, but once you've tasted the authentic, handmade sourdough ones from Daniele’s Pizza, you might never want to go back to your standard pizza joint.

Here, they offer both classic flavours like Margherita (cheese) and Diavola (pepperoni), as well as less commonly known Italian favourites like Gamberi E Zucchine, a white sauce pizza with shrimp and zucchini. There's also got a nice selection of red and white wines, so all you have to do is gather the gang and head on over after work.

So what are some of your top spots to gather for an after work drink? Whether you have one or not, we’d recommend trying out one or all of the places on our list. Who knows, you might just discover a new favourite among them.
